modernism-in-metroland: Southside Halls of Residence,…

Southside Halls of Residence, Imperial College, Kensington (1963) by

Richard Sheppard Robson & Partners.

Student accommodation block designed for Imperial College in Kensington by Richard Sheppard Robson & Partners in a bold brutalist style heavily influenced by the work of Le Corbusier. Structural problems led to the block being demolished in 2005 and replaced with new accommodation buildings. A slightly earlier building by the firm for Imperial College, Weeks Hall, still stands on Prince’s gardens.
