After my texts of two days ago (last one here) on the galleries and museum’s world, here are the explanations I’d say I’d give, on how to be a good or brilliant curator in art photography.
Mainly, the problems the photo world of art meets outside the web is the one of “MEANING” : to show a “social vision”, to show one is “interested in the destiny of the world”, especially the poorest countries, and most of all the non-white ones, most of all Africa. These are recipes for “success” in the official art world.
Even if we know so well that all this is fucking fake, and that most people have this appearance of “humanism”…to be taken in places, to get jobs, etc ! By the way, the galleries’ world, left-wing, humanist, interested in the destiny of the poorest ? Big lol !! It’s PRECISELY this bourgeoisie which prevents equality from starting to happen, and which feeds the inequalities’ system !
I have closely, closely, intensely, lived the art web and its evolution, for 8 years. More and more places, especially Tumblr, have been attracting all the people, real sweet armies, and this time it’s not ironic, who wanted something else than these obligations of getting out of beauty, of seeing beauty as a curse, as “superficial”, as “without meaning”, “without goal”, and all this sordid shit.
In these artists, there is everything : fuckers, loonies, great people. We all share this wish of revolution of the official art world and its moral direction of us seen as pupils, waiting for rewards because of our greatly humanist behaviour.
But sure, the official art world is not ready to change, and its ignorance in the field of photography prevents soooo many brilliant authors from getting what they deserve, from getting more money, or simply from getting a bit of money and acknowledgement for the hard work we do and have been doing for years, for decades sometimes.
